Modern Mexican Villa: Mo House From JCNAME Architects

14 Mar

If you are a fan of contemporary architecture, then check out this modern Mexican villa from JCNAME Architects. Too parallel boxes, each with a well defined design were connected together for this project called “MO House”. White, red and black were the colors chosen for the exterior, a palette which brings a sober touch. Large windows facilitate a good indoor illumination and contribute to the overall modern design. Privacy is not an issue, as the frosted glass does not allow too much visibility. The interior is minimalist, with stairs connecting the floors and interesting looking furniture. The illuminated floors and large painting are elements that build up the home’s personality.-via Dagen’s Design

Beautiful Apartment in Lisbon : A Fun Family Renovation

14 Mar

These amazing interiors belong to in a beautiful apartment in Lisbon, Portugal, a place which dates back to the year 1850. However, the more interesting part is that the home was redecorated by a family and the work was done without consulting any specialists. Sure, by the way things look, you might say this is a job well done and perhaps the owners are design specialists their selves. Some of the rooms have a white theme, preserving the 1980’s style. The living room is modern and vivid, with bright colors and plenty of good taste. Interesting furniture items such as a wooden cabinet with a vintage feel are a reminder of the apartment’s “age”. You could say this is a nice mix between old and new and a very successful approach to interior design. Do you agree?-via The White Sheet

CCC: Outdoor Seating That Purifies the Air

13 Mar

Inhabitat reader deborah Sommers tells us how Alexandre Moronnoz’s new outdoor seating CCC (named after Champignon Carbone Capture, the material from which it is made) takes the concept of ‘green’ furniture a step further. This series of sculptural urban seating is made from  TX Active Cement. – a special kind of cement containing a photocatalyzer that expedites the natural oxidation process of pollutants found in both natural and artificial light and transforms them into less harmful compounds such as water, nitrates and carbon dioxide.

“Tout Va Bien Cabinet” from Antoine+Manuel

12 Mar

We here on Freshome love to show you furniture items that break the patterns and bring a plus of originality to an interior. Recently we ran into this interesting cabinet. It is called “Tout Va Bien Cabinet” -in translation “everything will be alright”- and belongs to Antoine+Manuel, a team of graphic designers from France. We liked its shape and tiny feet which we consider to be quite unusual. Further more, the carvings are very interesting.  They are the focus point of the cabinet and an distinctive element. The item comes in both white and black and can be integrated in a minimalist interior with simple arrangements. The price is available on request on the manufacturer’s page here.

A Breathtaking Residential Project in Peru by JSª Architects

12 Mar

JSª is a team of architects from Mexico City. They recently developed this breathtaking residential project situated by the beach in Lima, the capital of Peru. The location couldn’t be better- a peaceful area located not far away from the urban madness, where all the major events take place. A white and captivating exterior, with large windows draws attention to the building that houses 4 apartments. Stone stairs connect the levels on the outside.  A beautiful pool completes the mystical feel of this residential wonder. The interior design is modern and minimalist, with interesting furniture items and original color arrangements. We don’t know why the building is called “22″, but we really like its name. -via Platforma Arquitectura

Dual Purpose Bike Harvests Kinetic Energy

4 Mar

Dual Purpose Bike, sustainable design, green design, diy, sustainable transportation, green transportation, kinetic energy generator

We just got a tip from reader Selvan about a dual-purpose bicycle that can be used for transportation as well as for energy production. Using a stand that fixes the bike in a stationary position and a pedal power attachment that can be fabricated from widely available parts, the DPB can be used to power numerous small‑scale mechanical devices such as grain threshers, grinders, water pumps, electrical generators, and furniture making tools. Because the bike is low-cost and pretty simple to fabricate, it’s ideal for developing nations.

17 Cool and Unconventional Shelving Ideas

4 Mar

We’ve heard people say how hard it is to move from one place to another because of all the things they have to carry around. And it’s a universal fact: we have too much stuff! For today we’ve gathered up a collection of 17 cool and unconventional shelving ideas that we hope will solve some of your storing problems. We tried to select the items that are not only practical, but that would improve how a place looks and feels. Most of them are unusual, for example take a look at the vertical wooden panels, which are particularly interesting. Vertical or horizontal, it is truly impressive how the designers managed to make these furniture items so functional. We also like the fact that they are built from classic materials, which makes them fit well in a variety of interior designs. -via HomeTopHit.com
